View Full Version : HTTP 403 error message
Hello I keep getting error message http 403 -you are not authorised to view this web page.
Also I cannot sign into one of the forum sites that I visit (luckily not this one).
I installed zone alarm a month or so ago is there something that I need to configure in this?
Thanks for your replies

Have you tried deleting your cookies, and to re-log in the standard in.
Plus try to do a Clean startup and try logging in to the website to determine if Zonealarm would be causing a problem in your internet browsing habbits.
START>RUN>Msconfig> Un check Load Startup Items, Then go to the Services Tab, Click Hide all microsoft services, then uncheck all the third party services. And Restart and try to log in to the forums you wish to log onto to see if Zone Alarm was the problem
But try deleting your cookies and logging in before you go ahead with the 2nd step.
Hi Thanks for your reply.
I tried cleaning out the cookies etc but this didn't work.
So will try the 2nd step. However, if I disable everything at startup from msconfig won't I put myself in a vunerable position with no virus or firewall protection? Don't I need some of the things for startup?
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you will be vulnerable and it is probably not a good way to check this out... If you suspect ZA, just turn it off through its controls or better yet, check the settings and logs to see what it is blocking... I haven't used ZA for a long time, so I can't give you details about how to set it, but I know that it will let you change whatever settings it has... As an alternative, you could download Kerio, uninstall ZA and install Kerio... I have never had problems with Kerio being unruly while ZA caused all sorts of problems when I had it... There are a couple of other free options out there as well...
Thank you Budfred.
I took your advice and installed Kerio.....much much better. I have lost the http 403 error message and all the other little annoying things that I have been experiencing seem to have "healed themselves".
I still can't get signed into one of my forum sites though....think it might be a cookie enabling problem??? so I am stabbing the dark with that one if you can offer any advice.

Thank you budfred...couldn't edit previous post. Don't need any reply as am able to get signed in now. Didn't do anything it just seemed to have magically adjusted itself...so that's ok.
Have a nice day

If that is the case then it could have been an ISP or DNS or cookie problem...
