your opinions would be great.
Im using windows media player 10 to listen to music while computing.
I'v copied loads of CDs to the library as WMA files
It is forever sticking and other **** so I have to close it down and open again.
Is itunes a better player and store everything as Mp3 files
thanks in advance

I think WMP is OK. I don't like ripping them as WMA files though as it sounds crappy. I rip everything as MP3's. The file is a little larger but it makes a big difference in the quality of the sound IMO.

Your problem could be several things. To many programs at startup taking resources, a virus or other malware running in the background, not enough ram, heavily fragmented hard drive, or a combination of any of those.

Yes you can rip the files as MP3, but I don't think WMP can convert from WMA to MP3.

You will need a program to do the conversion for you. I have never used one so I can't recommend anything but here is a google search on the subject. I would imagine you can find a decent free one to use if you look around.

convert WMA to MP3 (http://www.google.com/search?q=convert+from+WMA+to+MP3&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official)

Or perhaps someone else around here will have good recommendation for you.

Windows Media Player cannot convert song files directly from WMA to MP3, despite you convert it through ripping from CDs.
By the way, you can try search the converter from the following website : www.majorgeeks.com
Then search for Power WMA Mp3 Converter. It's a shareware. Give it a try :)
