Given that the motherboard`s technical specifications are the same, is there any motherboard brand that is known, for any reason, to be faster than the others?
thanks

it just depends on the quality of the components and when/ by who it was manufactored. Could also be the time of the week it was built. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif It always depends on the manufactor, there qualioty control, and the effort to whcih they devote to building their product(s)-this holds true for any manufactored item.
Personally i think Giga-byte makes some of the best( also abit and asus), but you can get a lemon from a reputable dealer just as easily from a cheapo dealer.
Too sum it all up, no mater how much research and care you take in buying products; just because mobo A runs super fast and well in mr. jones PC, doesn't mean that mobo A will give you the same results. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Any particular mobo(company) you have in mind?

Hi Andrea,
I looked at this post thread earlier today and declined to respond due to my general newness to all this computer stuff....but since no one else has weighed in....here's my two cents in Liberian currency (I think Liberian currency is next to useless).

Before I built my own system recently I read as many different reviews on mobos as I could find. The general sense that I garnered was that the clear differences between manufacturers are not as clear anymore. Seems that even low end makers like PC Chips aka: Amptron and other name plates are doing as well or close to as well as the stalwarts like ASUS and IWill and ABit. Margins $ are tight. Poor performance has a pretty quick turn around in the marketplace. It seems sort of like the competitive nature of business today and especially computer business has forced everyone to put out a pretty decent product or get "slammed" in the reviews that are widely available through a simple yahoo/google search. I'm sure there are folks who will continue to "swear" by certain name brands but....I'm persuaded that the differences are not as significant as they were just 9 months ago.
Maybe this post will rile some allegiances and you'll get some valuable responses.
Peace.
ps. iisbob knows, I'm just learning.

I have an AZ-11 and I can say for sure that I would not buy another one. It's given me headaches with the secondary IDE channel and onboard sound since I got it. The FIC website is useless except for BIOS updates, but 1stmainboard.com is pretty good as is viahardware.com.

Okay, maybe all this has little to do with your question, but I felt I had to vent.

Tech support is the make or break point. On line support as well. Anymore - it's how a customer is treated after the point of sale that really counts. What good does it do to buy a new Mboard with all the latest option's (it's painted real pretty blue) and not be able to find any help when you need it. Other than take a number and wait. Use that 800#..press 1..press6..press 3. Calls will be answered in the order in which they are recieved. One tech man and one phone for the lower 48. Sheeesh. Dare ya to try and RMA that hummer. Give me a middle of the road, "plain vanilla", stable Mboard please. And that's because Dad doesn't pay for mine with his Gold Card. End of Story.
