Im having some odd problems.. and here they are.
Here is my Hardware
Memory- 2Gb Dual Channel PC3200 400MHz DDR
Motherboard- 865PE Neo2-PFS (Platinum Edition)
Video Card- MSI Nvidia 5900XT 256 MB
Sound Card- Soundblaster Audigy
CPU- Intel 2.8 HT
PSU- 550 Watt Psu
HDD1- W/D 40 GB ATA 100
HDD2- W/D 80Gb SATA
Optical- Sony DVD ROM
Optical1 Sony DVD/CD Burner
Cooling- 2 Deep 80mm Delta Fans/2 80mm Maddog Fans
Here are my symptoms.. and times when they happen.
Btw... I belives these to be all related and it starts with Symptom1.. All of this happens at once.
Sypmtom 1- Power Light on the Case Goes out
Symptom 2- CPU Idle Usage Increases
Symptom 3- If Sound is playing...I will every few Minutes get one of those terrbile Scratching sounds like a sound stutter
Symptom 4- Visible Scan/Refresh Line on Monitor now
Symptom 5- Devices Connected to USB time out..If I have a folder on a USB drive open when this happens. I can see a Page Fault Error in the System Log
Symptom 6- Rebooting Windows from the desktop it will just lock up.. OR shut down all the way... to a black screen than lock.. only way to fix is a Full Power off
Symptom 7- (This happens sometimes) After reboot the machine will freeze at the Post screen during the Device scan. The HDD light stays solid. Another power off will cause the same thing. The only way to get out of this loop is to power off and wait about 15 Seconds. After one of those full Power offs, when I turn the system back on.. It can take 10-15 seconds b4 the monitor kicks on and shows the Post info..
Symptom 8- Random Blue Screens of death...
Ok now.. I have noticed that it mainly does this during certain operations.. or with the use of certain programs or aps. Below is the list of apps that this massive failure happens on.
Firefox-
UltraEdit 32
MS Visual Studio
MS Excel
PhotoShop 8
MS Paint
Dreamweaver
Also Cntrl C/Cntrl V Causes this sometimes
Sometimes if I am playing a game Ill get the BlueScreen...
Ok this is what I have done...
I ALWAYS check the logs in Widows and besides the paging error after the USB devices hang.. that is the only error.. Oh.. there is one about the system time not in sync.. but the BIOS has the same time as Windows. Not sure how to fix that. I ran MANY virus scans... all came up negative. I have Defragged the HDD etc.
Then I thought this was a PSU issue.. I have tested the PSU with a tester and placed it in other machines.. Worked fine.. I put in a Different PSU also.. and still got the same problems. So.. I replaced the MOBO. The MOBO replacement was a exact duplicate of what I had.. Still had problems, I replaced the sound card also, and I DID find a bad DVD Burner so I replaced it too.I updated the chipset drivers, still same problem. I ram MemTest etc and video tests... I have run every test with Si-soft Sandra and Everest.. that they have.. and no problems are being found. The computer will be working just fine.. and then boom it does this. Sometimes it can go for Days
even weeks... without doing this. Other times it can do it 5 times in a day. It NEVER does it while its idle. Only when Im using..
The CPU temps and system temps are FINE. Those have been tested also... The Geil memory.. was purchased in 5/05 2 modules of 512.. I first noticed this error in November of 05... I have since added 2 more identical modules also. I am really at my wits end here people... I am not looking foward to a reformat.. as I have ALOT of stuff on the HDD that would need to be restored.. etc. BTW... Windows gives NO errors other than the Blue Screens.. I am positive this is a Hardware issue.. but what is it? If anyone can help.. I would be VERY appreciative...
Please Do not respond with Memtest responses...I have run that damn program more times than I can count.. I also checked the Geil website and the MSI site and the modules im using are 100% compatible with the board im using.
Oh and in advance... No I have never overclocked the PC.. YES the CPU and Heatsink are seated ok.. YES I used Artic Silver..
All this started happening after I bought Some USB External HDD's. At the same time..as I bouth those installed the new Chipset Drivers..and I installed Zone Alarm Pro... thats when all the problems really started.. Since then I have tried the comp with out the USB HDD's and I got rid of Zone Alarm.. and I still got problems.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!
Thanks
