Yesterday, 6/1/06, we had a little thunder-boomer blowup over top of us, it kind of didn't move anywhere for about 3 hrs...so we had darn close to 5 inches of rain fall in that time.

This is normally a little creek (http://s89223352.onlinehome.us/hiwater/hiwater.html)

At least I made sure that the drain to my outside cellar stairs wasn't plugged...this time.

Last time we had one this bad I sent my then 9 yr old son to see if there was water in the stairwell...he checked by opening the basement outside door

Whose red truck is parked in the water? I would think they'd want to move it or something?

How long will it take all of that to drain away? Is it done raining?

The other two pics...the ones without all the water were from about 9am, today.

So less than 12 hours.

The good thing about it was that the river that creek drains into didn't rise as fast as the creek. Most of the rainfall was on this side of the river...in the creek's drainage area and not downstream on the river. The storm basically started right here and stayed in place for three hours-until it rained itself out. So only a few miles away there wasn't nearly as much rain.

I was so glad that my basement didn't fill up...

Yeah, flooded basements really put a damper on my evenings, too. ;)

My basement flooded a few years back (on my birthday too...) and we had to replace everything! The rainwater didn't flood us, it was the sewers backing up into the basement that got us. Not alot of fun.
