I am having fast internet service installed next week (cable) and would like anyone's input on a cable/dsl router. I have read some reviews of offerings from D-Link, Linksys, SMC, Netgear, etc. Of course all are loved in some fashion. But nothing compares to real world experience. So how bout it, any feelings on which would be the best choice? FYI: I have three computers at home that are networked already (fast ethernet) and want to have cable access to all).
Thank you veddy much,
ER

I am partial to the linksys...it's served me well for over a year, has A LOT of features (mac cloning to name just one)
And you can't beat it for ease of use, my dad set one up... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I also have the Linksys and it has been easy to use and trouble free. Originally I bought a Netgear but returned 'cause I couldn't get it to work, customer "service" seemed irritated and recommended I buy this administrators cable to set it up (which of course should've been included) and couldn't be found anywhere so back to CompUSA it went

I've got a D-Link DI-701, works great for me. If I were to buy today, though, I'd get a router with an integrated multi-port switch. I thought I'd never make use of all the five ports on my original switch (DSS-5+), but I recently upgraded to an eight-port model. (Then again, I'm hardware obsessive.)
To me, D-Link and Linksys are of equivalent quality. I read a review of the DI-701 that criticized its vulnerability to Denial of Service attacks, but I haven't been attacked (yet). http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thank you to everybody who replied (hiredgoonz,Gallaeglagh,Kenja). Your advice was quite useful and I appreciate it. Based upon recommendations from here and from several informed friends, I narrowed my choice between Linksys and DLink. In the end, I chose DLink and so far it has performed very well.
The PC Guide and it's legion of thoughtful geeks are the BEST!
