What is the best software firewall for dialup connections? PC in question runs ME (or *tries to* ;-) Also, if someone is particularly conversant with the present level of threat to doing "the usual" online with and without a firewall, please comment on the issue. I also occasionally download MP3's from servers like Audio Galaxy (especially) and Bear Share, how is this particularly dangerous? I've read where giving such applications server priveleges is an especially bad idea, please discuss.

Thanks,

Dan

I would advise zonealarm for your firewall. It is free, and actually works.

as for the programs you mentioned, only bearshare- have I had personal experience with.

I signed onto it one time for about 3 minutes, and after that, for a whileI was bombarded by hits everytime I came online. It has a setting to keep on trying to get once seen/requested songs from anyone you happen to get a glance of.

It does not want to stop.

I had to get a persons ISP in south afrika to STOP them.
