If the D drive has any critical data on it, then back it up first(Ex.- burn it to a CD in a CD burner).
Next, follow the steps under "How To Use Disk Management" and "How To Format A Basic Volume" in this link to format the D drive:

Do you have a dual boot menu at start up allowing a choice between the installations on the C and D drives? If so please post the contents of your boot.ini file here. You can read it by RClicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. Then from the
Advanced Tab hit the Settings Button under Startup and Recovery. Then hit the edit button and the contents of boot.ini will be displayed.

Are the C and D drives on different partitions on one drive or are they two different physical hard drives? Enter diskmgmt.msc into the run box to see the full layout of all partitions and hard drives.

You probably only need to edit boot.ini appropriately and then delete the 3 main system folders on the D drive to reclaim the space used-up by the second installation. Formatting the D drive would also reclaim the space but delete everything on the drive.

You can turn the Windows firewall off from the Security Center (you may need to be running SP2 but not quite sure). Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Security Center.
