I built a system many years ago on the Shuttle P591 board.
Using the amd 400 cpu.
I can’t say it’s the fastest thing out there.
But I can tell you it has never given the user any problems

Shuttle has been around for quite a while, and makes some pretty good boards, as far as I know. Others may have features or abilities that are more advantageous for some reasons, gamers are often picky about motherboards. For average use, most major brands that have been around for a few years are usually sufficient for home use-word processing, internet, picture scanning etc. Some of those would be Abit, Asus, Tyan, Gigabyte, DTK, Soyo...
Check the specs, and make sure it has the options you need and supports the components you plan to add. With AMD processors, make sure the power supply is AMD approved. Check to be sure it has the types of slots you need, ISA or PCI and how many, how many memory slots, amount of cache, CPU's supported, upgrade possibilities, good manual...
