CD-ROM problem

hello guy im just new here.. i just want to share to you my problem.. it about my cd-rom drive..

at boot-up my pc was able to detect my cd-rom device.. but in the my computer i cant find the cd-rom icon.. any idea what's the problem of my cd-rom?

We will need complete specs on your machine, including Windeows version.

windows xp/prof.
p4 processor..
im just using onboard V/S/L..

BTW.. i do have knowledge in pc troubleshooting but this is my firsttime to encounter this prob..

It seems to be a fairly common problem in XP.
