"Aquiring network address" with a static IP

Hi,

I'm on a Windows XP SP2 box with a Belkin WiFi adapter.

I'm using the Belkin wireless toolkit to manage my network connections, but the result is the same if I use windows built-in manager.

Problem is that even though I have set a static IP address on my interface; there's still an icon in my notification area saying "aquiring network address" for five minutes after I boot up my computer.

Any help would be appreciated!

Do you also have a wired network adaptor that is enabled?

Yeah, it's enabled and working fine.

I'm connecting through it now.

The problem is that it's working just fine, but it STILL says "Aquiring network address" even though I've set it static to 192.168.0.2.
