Purge the Virge??

Just bought a new flat screen monitor. My video card is a old? S3 Virge-DX/GX. I'm not into gaming (3-D) makes me nauseous (really). I do surf and word process and plan to do some digital photo work... not anything real complex.
system is:
AMD K6-300
IBM ATA 100 Deskstar 30gb
Tekram Socket 7 Baby AT
KDS Avitron AV7TF monitor
AGP slot

Question: Will upgrading to a newer video card make a difference? With the Virge I can only get 800 x600 resolution , above that and text is too small, etc. Any ideas??

Does the wind still blow in Cheyenne? Hehehe. My bad. There are graphic cards (w/accelerators) made to work with flat screen monitors. That would be the way to go. The one you have presently is really not co-operating. nVidia, ATI, S3, 3Dfx, are some that support LCD flat panel. Luck.
