my Harddisk, Western Digital WD1600(or 1300) holds 160 gigs and is reformated to 137 because of win98, and i know that my system has proper cooling because it was cool and i added an extra fan, but the bottom part of the harddisk keeps heating up, it runs, but i dont want anything happening to my hardware or this hdd to die becuase of a stupid mistake, is this normal for a hdd to be hot or is there a problem?

Hard drives do generate a bit of heat. There appears to be a segment of the computer industry that does indeed address the problem:
