Can anyone help? I have a 166MHz Pentium with 96MB Ram. The cache memory supports 512K. Will I gain a significant advantage by upgrading to 256MB?
I've been told that I may get a decrease in performance. Is this correct?
Many thanks.

I'm guessing here that you have SIMMS type RAM rather than dimms.....if that is the case, you will spend more on SIMMS Ram [ going from 98 to 256 mb] than the cost of a new motherboard and faster cpu!! Simms type Ram is hard to get and expensive these days........by adding Ram to a Pent. 166 you might see a marginal difference in performance; however, you STILL will not be able to do a LOT of things out there [many games and a good deal of the streaming video on the internet] unless you move up to at least a 300 or faster mhz cpu.
