I have just bought a plextor 161040 CDRW drive, and im also using a "slaved" samsung cd rom drive. The samsung drive in question is getting on a bit now, and when i copy from the samsung, to the plextor, the samsung doesnt seem to keep up, and is causing problems! (it did only cost £25, so i suppose i should expect this) I have asked for some recomendations from retailers, but they just try and sell me their "featured" drives, generally not mutch better than what iv got already. so, could someone please recomend one to me. i was thinking about going the SCSI route, but i dont know if this is sensible, with the plextor being IDE.

Ever been to StorageReview.com? On their "Leader Board" is the 56x Afreey CD-2056E. On the SCSI side, I love my (H-P labelled) Plextor 40x. For cost-effectiveness, though, IDE is the way to go.
