Is there any software that I can purchase to backup 88 Computers Software without Hardware? Software such as Netscape, Windows Defaults, Outlook, etc. without backing up the hardware. I have Norton Ghost but it does both and there are several hardware issues involved in that. I don't care the price, just don't want to have to do it all by hand.

Hey,
I don't know of any software that will back up your stuff, but then, I will be the first to admit that I don't know everything. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
In order to back up anything, you have to have some sort of media to hold it and that usually requires some sort of hardware to handle the media.
Only thing I can think of is to check out one of those virtual harddrives on the net. Don't know too much about them, but that might be the way to go in your case. No hardware involved, except of course a net connection.
Good luck.

That's one of the purposes of having a server. Save all critical files to the server and back up the server. It requires a tape drive or CD writer to do it.
Backing up all the machines is quite a job, I don't know of any way to do it remotely or without hardware issues. Usually it's not the software itself, but the files produced by the software that needs to be backed up. Databases, spreadsheets, etc. If those are saved to a file server you only have to back up the server. The software itself can be reinstalled at any time from CD if any individual machine needs to be formatted and reinstalled.
Usually backups of the actual software causes headaches anyway, because the backup does not save links to associated files or the files themselves that are copied to the Windows and Windows\System folders, dll files and such.
One other option might be setting it up so the individual machines back up data files to the server at night. Then a backup of the server would still be in order...

I was working on a response earlier when I got cut off, but part of what my response was what Pete said.
The rest was a question, are you trying to come up with a "restore" disk for the network?
If most of the machines are the same you could probably do a fresh install of the software you want on it, configured how you want it and then back that up with Ghost...if there are many different machines then you'd need one for each group of machines, if they are all different...stick to just the data backups and reinstall as needed, then make the Ghost backup for each machine.
