Well, i dont know if this is the place to ask this or not so ill just go ahead anyway. At my place, my laptop picks up one wireless network and it is unsecured. Anyway when i join everything is cool and i can access the net too which is handy...i do this for a week or so then all of a sudden one day I cant.. Now i can still log on the network but all of a sudden my ability to surf online is gone. When im connected to the network under the packets activity on the sent side it is always going up but it isnt receiving any? Is that because they locked me out or something. Anyway i gave up on it for a week or so then today all of a sudden bang..It auto connected and my yahoo logged on. I was like wtf but it gave me access to the internet again...and 5 hours later bang gone...same problem with the packets and now i cant surf again. WTF? Is there anything I can do to enable the internet on my machine cuz it was amazingly handy to have. I just dont unerstand how im connected to there network or how they still allow me to but now i cant get online? Could someone help out with it or know a way i can get around it thanks. :)
How about I come and siphon a few gallons of gas from your car?
Oh, I can't get the gas cap off...oh, but you didn't lock it today, so I can grab a few more...darn, locked....maybe...nah...your gas is fine why should I go buy my own?
BTW, did you know that using someone else's connection can, in most cases be considered illegal?
Basically, NO, we won't tell you how to get 'around it'!
The only reason I'm not locking this, is to see your response, but consider yourself warned. We do not put up with cracking/hacking/piracy or spamming...and this comes awfully darn close to the first three, so close, in fact a good prosecutor would consider it good enough to make a case out of...

Let's look at this from another view.
Does the person with the unsecured router have absolutely no responsibility what so ever?
Does the preson have unlimited bandwidth and is just providing a kind gesture to fellow neighbors?
Does the person know what wardriving is and that they're ultimately responsible for their own connection?
It only takes 5 minutes to secure a router. Ignorance is not a defence. Stupidity might be though depending on where they live. :)
I think a better response could have been better.
Find the person with the unsecured router and help them secure their network.
In addition, you can help pay half of their ISP charge if they include you in their network for Internet usage.
They might be even grateful enough that you helped them secure their network that they might even offer you free Internet usage as long as it is not abused.
