Hello,
After consulting reviews and reading comments here and at Google, I'm still feeling like the sorcerer's apprentice - over my head. So, see any inconsistencies in the following array of items?

AMD T Bird 1.2 266FSB
EPoX EP- 8K7A AMD 761 PC2100 (200/266) DDR AGPset ATX
GlobalWin heat sink and cooling fan
Micron DDR PC 2100 256 MB 2.5V 16x8 ECC
WesternDigital 30GB HD 7200 RPM ATA/100
ENLIGHT midtower 350W ATX 7 bay
eVGA 32 MB TNT 2 M64 AGP NV-02
et al

Especially concerned about the memory chips, several DDR options...not sure what ECC is all about. And, sufficient cooling.

Thanks for aqny help.

Welcome Carl-- You are in good shape. Drive on. GlobalWin offers several excellent HSF units. The FOP38 makes a little noise because of the 7K rpm Black Label fan but it does a dynamite job of cooling. The -32 is also a good one but may be marginal if you push that 1.2 chip pretty hard. ECC memory concerns error correcting code, single-bit memory errors can be correced on the fly. Luck.

......Indecision may or may not be my problem......

Sounds like a good, well balanced system except for the graphics card . The TNT2 will prove to be a serious bottleneck on a system this fast . I would go for the fastest Geforce2 card you can afford ( GTS minimum , Ultra ideally) or a Geforce3 card if you've got spare cash .

The FOP38 fan/heatsink combo is excellent ( sounds like a jet taking off though !)

Don't forget some case fans , get at least two , one sucking cool air in the front and one blowing out hot at the back . You can never be too careful when it comes to cooling !

Good luck and have fun

Welcome to PcGuide carltj http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

your system sounds like mine a year ago (state of the art)

hehe

and while I am not exactly sure why the Nvidia TNT2(64) is always said to be so 'ineffiecient', or "causes bottlnecks"...... but then again I'm not a mad gamer..

I do video editing, and have streaming cams running 24/7 for weeks w/ a Athlon 800 and Nvidia and no matter what I have wanted to do over the past year it has always done a flawless job without one problem.

Makes me wonder what all I'm supposed to be 'missing'??
