Hi all,
I need your opinions. I want to install linux into my window xp laptop, but I do not want to put it into my current only hard drive. Then how can I achieve this? Thanks.

You could buy an external USB drive.

How about the operating speed performation with the external USB HD such as data transfer or loading etc? Is it possible to put the internal HD into laptop? Thanks

Sorry about the typo "performation" - should be "performance". !@#$%^&

I dont think an external will work for booting up any OS; they are basically storage devices.
I don't know of Laptops with more than one hard drive but you can of course partition your current hard drive so that you dual boot to both OSes on it.
You can of course also boot to a Live Knoppix CD and save any personalised settings to your hard drive before you log off.
