Since I usually post with some self-absorbedly innane problem/gripe or other, I thought I'd relate a positive PC experience. I was cruising the aisles of my favorite WalMart Superstore the other day, 3 screaming kids in tow and a cell phone crammed in my ear, as is the local custom (this is in fact a requirement for entry now; they have a sign on the front door which reads "No shirt, No shoes, No squalling brats, No cell phone NO SERVICE!" I haven't tested the theory yet, but I think this means you can get in without pants so long as you have the aforementioned accoutrement) when I happened upon their computer peripherals section (wedged neatly between the replacement snow mobile belts department and the whaling equipment area). A Logitech cordless mouse caught my eye, reduced from $38 to the ridiculous price of $26! Hating the mouse in general and being especially annoyed by the cord that constantly gets in the way, I grabbed one, albeit a bit skeptically. Well, the freekin thing works great! Specs claim it's good for 6' from the pc/receiver, but I can now scroll clear across the room! Next test: double clicking from the driveway. One question I still wonder about is battery life, the box claims the 2 aaa alkalines (INCLUDED!) are good for "months", I'm hoping more than 2, at least, but as they say "your mileage may vary". Only other concern is whether the Mouse Microwaves will produce a sinister mass on my right hand, to match the one I'm getting on the side of my head from the cell phone http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey Dan,
Entertaining post, dude! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Enjoyed your humor. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif You forgot to mention the thrill of standing in line at the cash register. You know, 25 cash registers in the store but only two with that little light on. Oh, and the lady who is just in front of you always needs a price check for some item in the furthest corner of the store. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif
Anyhow is this mouse an infrared thing or something else? Does it have a ball that rolls or is it one of those new ones with a laser?
And of course now you can see, that I have no idea how long the battery will last. sorry!
Peace

Having worked part time in the local Wal-mart sporting goods dept. ( yeh, not only do i enjoy playing with these Personal Confusers-but i also love to hunt those viscious rabbits http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ) for a few years some time ago, i know both sides of the shopping experiance-so you have most definatly have my sympathies! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

On the subject of cordless mice; IMHO ther has been NO greater advancement in PC architechture!! I got a cordless when they first came out, LOVED it! then came the optical, best thing since white bread! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Now they came out with a cordless optical mouse and keyboard combo-bubba, i'm in heaven!!

If any of you haven't gotten an optical mouse yet, you don't know what your missing!! No more agravating mouse ball! finally a precise input peripheral!

If you do nothing else for your system, get an optical mouse! trust me-you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!

iisbob bows and gracefully accepts the check from a Logitech rep who wwas standing over his shoulder http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif
