Does anyone have any feedback on Comcast? I'm just looking to find out if anyone has any idea how good their service is compared to Optimum and Time Warner.

Recently a few fellow gamers (Who all have comcast) have had trouble logging onto World of Warcraft and STAYING on without having any issues. Trace routes were done and there were quite a few * symbols and "Time outs" To my understanding, when a * is seen, it means its from the comcast side... However after contacting them several times they (Comcast) Insist that it is NOTHING on their side and that it's the computers NIC card.

In my experience, if THEIR "tech support" can't help you, they always say "Well my supervisor says its a problem on YOUR end. Please contact your computer's manufacterer to fix the problem. We can't help you any further on this issue because everything is fine on our end." heh heh...yeah.

Not to mention that I have read quite a few articles that have had a ton of negative feedback on their service. If anyone has any opinions on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

* symbols and the time outs in trace route are normal. Not all routers will respond to the ICMP echo Windows uses for tracert. Comcast is probably not the problem.

Out here on the left coast, Comcast has had some issues related to the ATT backbone causing high latencies. This is an issue that is not exactly Comcast's doing but they will get blamed anyway.

Hey guys.

Variable,
When you say that the * is a normal thing, are you saying it does NOT mean there is a problem in communication? I ask this because the gaming company (Blizzard) tech support mentioned that if you saw a * it meant that there was a communication error on the ISPs side (comcast in this case)

PrntRhd,
When you mentioned Comcast having issues with ATT, do you mean that ATT themselves are the ones having problems and in turn is affecting Comcast?

Thanks for the input =)

Yes, that is my understanding.
