First go into the BIOS and see what it is displaying for CPU temperature.

Does it seem like all the fans are working?

Try booting from a Live Linux CD and see if the problems continue. If they stop, then the problem is with Windows. If the continue, then it's hardware related.

I have had the same problem and a nephew had the same problem. Both of us found out that in fact they were different. Mine was a memory problem (one of the memory sticks was bad so I took it out. It did take me some trial and error to figure out which one it was) my nephew’s was windows operating system. He just reinstalled the operating system. He was smart he had most of his work backed up before. So you may want to try at least taking out one of the memory sticks.

Actually music is quite right. I had mismatched RAM in my sons computer and that's all it would do, start up and shut down. I took out the slower different RAM and no problems. Has anything changed on your computer? Have you added or taken away hardware or software?
