hello.
Can I make a VPN between a workstation in a city and anotther workstation from another city. Or VPN can be made only server-client;client-server?

1. they have different ISP's
2. both run XP
3. what do I need in order to make this ?

thx and hope I was enough understandable so that you can "see" what do I want to make ... :)

Hi. The simple answer is 'yes'.

Now for the complex answer... The safest way to do this is to have a router at each site (with a simple firewall in it) that will pass-through/forward the VPN traffic coming in to the specified computer. You will also need VPN host software on both machines to handle the VPN connection at each site. Also you will need either a static IP address for your router from your ISP. (there is a work around for a dynamic IP address if you are interested)

Do you want the VPN for doing file-swaps or just to remote control the remote PC?

windows XP Pro comes with the client and server VPN software. (built into OS)
