What laptop? Each manufacturer has its own configuration (and tricks, usually).

Not 100% sure about your model, but in my Acer TravelMate 507DX, you remove a couple of plastic clips, flip out the keyboard, remove the heatsink-plate from the CPU assembly, remove the battery-pack and unplug it's lead for about 30 seconds, then replace the plug,battery,heatsink-plate,keyboard & clips, and away you go. If your laptop has a heatsink-plate that you have to remove, be sure to carefully clean the surface of the CPU and the surface of the heatsink, then smear a thin layer of Silver Grease on the CPU before replacement of the heatsink-plate.

How can I do so if it's still under warranty? :(

Take it to the shop, and get them to fix it for free under the terms of the warranty - that's what the warranty is there for!!! :)

What I mean by this is if the problem is with the machine, that is...

If you have put a password on the machine, or someone else has, but nor you can remeber the password, you're kinda snookered, and will have to crack open the laptop to reset the CMOS either by a jumper(if the laptop has one), or removal of the CMOS battery.

The warranty will not cover forgotten passwords.
:(

Unfortunately, there is no "Easy" solution to CMOS passwords on laptops - I find the IBM Thinkpad series are especially bad.

Also worth noting, is the fact that some laptops(notably the IBM Thinkpads) save the password in flash-memory, so removing the battery might not actually remove the password!!!

Yep, it gets worse like that some days!
:D

The only way you will find out, is by having a go yourself, but if you have never pulled a laptop to bits before, I strongly suggest you employ the services of a laptop tech, who will be able to do the dissassembly for you.

:( Thank you very much. I think I know what I suppose to do with the customer's laptop. Give it back to him, hehe...
