Hi, I am having trouble connecting 2 access points when my network is already setup with a wireless router. I have the Netgear WPN824 wireless router and 2 Netgear WPN802 wireless access points. I have 2 PC's hardwired through the network and one laptop connecting wirelessly. When just the router is hooked up everything works fine but of course the farther away from the router I go, the less signal i get. now, when I unhook the router and hook up the AP to the computer the instructions tell me to set a static IP of 192.168.0.210 for the PC and then login to the AP through 192.168.0.231. This works fine but when i unhook the AP and plug the router back in, I can't access the router because it's on the subnet of 192.168.1.1. how do i solve this problem?? I even set the AP to enable DHCP but that doesn't seem to work either. so now i have one AP hooked directly to my router, which the manual said would work, and one hooked up to one of my ethernet ports running through the house and they arent doing what they're supposed to do. Please help! thanks in advance
The AP you have on the hardwire should be given an IP by the router as well
If not then go into the router and the AP's and set them all the same ( 192.168.x.x )
You can then set the laptop to a hard IP and access the network from the strongest signal
The 192.168.0231 is the default for the AP.. you can change that to your liking

thanks for the reply. I set the AP's to a subnet of 192.168.1.x so i could still acces the router. once i made the change to another subnet away from the 192.168.0.x i couldnt access the AP through the browser anymore. i was going back and forth with this setting it to 192.168.0.x to 192.168.1.x and also the PC as well. If i set one a certain way I couldnt access the router and vice versa. that is where my dilema is.
Your IP should be 192.168.x.x and the subnet should be something like 255.255.255.0
ALL of the systems, and points should use the same Subnet 255.5.. and should NOT be changed
As you can see in this attachment

ok, i got it now. it was entering it's own IP address that was getting me stuck. i changed it to 192.168.1.23 and it worked fine. not sure what was going on to begin with. thanks for your help though
