My son's computer won't turn on. I've changed the power cable, and switched where I plug it into the wall...every time I switch and press the power button, the fan goes on, not even a complete turn, and the power light in front flickers, but that's it.

TIA,
Quasi

Ok guys, sorry it took so long for me to get back to this..I've figured out the problem. I'll just post it here for future ref.

The power supply went out on this computer (2400 Sempron) after just a day or two of use. The problem, I believe, is with the outlet....it may not be grounded. This is the second time a power supply went out on a computer using this particular outlet. I had an extra power supply, which was a 250 watt (versus the original 200 watt) and installed that. It worked perfectly. I bought an expensive surge protector to ground the outlet. My brother suggested that I install a GFCI receptacle there (or you could use a portable GFCI), but until then, we'll use the surge protector, which basically does the same thing.

Thanks for all your help!
