I had to reinstall winxp on my laptop and now I don't have wi-fi capabilities.
When I try to install new wireless network, it wants the ssid. How do I find that on my desktop which the router is attached to?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi AND3008 and welcome to the PcGuide forums. :)

The SSID is set through the router. You will also need the password. If you don't know what it is or don't have it written down anywhere you can get into the routers admin interface and reset it to something new. You can get to the router interface by opening a web browser and typing in usually either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Depending on what brand of router you have one of those usually works.

You will need the user name and password to get into the router though. If you don't know what they are, you need to read the router documentation, or talk to the person that setup the router.
