Hi all!
http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I want to upgrade the CPU in my P120 machine to a P166.
Both CPU's are Intel.

Problem is: I brought the P120 machine 2nd hand, and have no M/board manual for it...

The screen comes up with "P5VX-B Ver 1.5 02/12/97", and the following is printed on the edge of the PCB: "P5VX-B Rev 1.2"

Can anyone tell me where I could find info on this M/board, like where there is a website with info???
As there is no brand name, I have no-idea where to start looking...

The other machine I have has an ExpertColor M/board with a AMI WinBIOS in it, and it is a dog - crashes more often then Windows-Me under Win95b...
Just can't seem to get Win to run on this M/board, no matter what I try - it'll run for a little while, then crash with a blue screen announcing something about illegal VxD request, and the machine promptly locks up...

Can someone please help me locate info on the former.
(I have a M/board manual for the E/color, but it is of little help.)

Ta!

P5VX-B sounds very much like an ECS product. Try their website: www.ecs.com/tw. (http://www.ecs.com/tw.)
Hope this helps.

Start the computer and press [Pause] during the first boot screen. At the bottom left you'll see a long number. Write it down exactly, it's the BIOS ID string. Wim's BIOS (http://www.wimsbios.com) has listings of AMI & Award BIOS ID numbers, you might be able to find a manual. The manual will tell you what CPU speeds are supported, jumper settings to allow them to work, and plenty other info you'll need.

Hi all!
http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I followed the links provided by you guys, and low and behold - ECS it was.
Downloaded a manual for that M/Board, and already have it running the P166 CPU.

Thank you very much, you guys!!!
