Notebook monitor keeps shutting off

My Dell Inspiron 1200 notebook monitor keeps shutting off. The hardware never shuts down. I have to close the monitor and reopen it for the power to come back. My power settings for monitor and hardware are set to 'never'. Any ideas?

1) Possible bad switch for the display
2) Possible bad inverter, look closely to see if a hidden image is being displayed
3) Possible bad cabling to the display

On the monitor shutting off take the laptop and flip it over make sure all the
screws are tight. this worked for me
