I am building a system around Dual AMD cpus and plan to have IDE RAID storage (6-8)HDDs. What is the most powerful PC power supply, is it Enermax EG651P? The mobo calls for 5v at 30A min., will it draw this all the time or just during startup? THX
I'm not quite sure if it is the only one that powerful but it definitely is one of the few...and I'd also be a little concerned about the +12V side of things, with upto 8 hard drives (didn't say anything about CD/DVD), but if the specs on it are like other Enermax PSUs the 12V should be adequate. You need to remember a single AMD 1Ghz+ is power hungry 2 will be doubly so and you'll be running many more fans also...so I would go with nothing less. I'd be surprised if it wanted +5V @ 30A the entire time it waas running...probably just at startup.

How about a PC Power and Cooling Turbo-CoolŪ 600 ATX/ATX12V? (http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/power_supplies/highperformance/turbocools/index_tc_600atx.htm) Only$379! Free shipping!
They also make two PSUs specifically for dual K7s on a Tyan motherboard (I'm guessing you're going Palomino).

I am ordering the Lian Li pc-76 case at $320 and the the Enermax EG651 PSU at $139. It's a little more, but the aluminum should be a good thing. Thx for the input.

Hey Drywolf let me know how it turns out - I been investigating the
Dual Tyan K7 mobo for a month now. I see that WinNT and Win2000 are
the only OS's that support multiple processing.
I want to setup a similar system for Lightwave 3D rendering - I was
looking at a Raid 1 setup just to have a mirrored backup. The setup
would be around $2K for the 1.2 GHZ Palominos, 2 HD's, Geforce 3,
and 1 GByte of SDRAM - I can't afford DDR for awhile yet.
Let us all know how it turns out - it should be a big boost!
