Hey everyone,
I own an HP Officjet T65 All-In-One printer. It is connected to my computer running XP Home with service pack 2. The printer used to print in color and now it only prints in black and white. It is connected by a parallel cable.
Now heres the weird part....the printer will print when I tell it to print a document etc. but when I try to access the printer manager to make it print in color it says there is a connection error and the printer isn't connected. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and downloaded the latest drivers as well as restarted the computer.

So to recap:
The printer only prints in black and white
And the printer says its disconnected but it will still print.

Please help!
Thanks

Have you tried unplugging the printer and reconnecting?
Have you tried borrowing a different parallel cable and testing? I do also recommend powering down the computer and printer when messing with a parallel connection.

While rebooting have a look in the BIOS. Under Ports, see what the printer /parallel port is set to. It should be ECP/EPP

I unplugged the printer and let it sit for a while before replugging it in. I then tried a different parallel cable (made sure I turned off the computer). I finished by checking the bios and making sure it was set to the ECP/EPP setting.....nothing has worked.
The printer prints...just not in color, and I still cannot reach the settings!

In the FAQs:

Also, I would check for the possibility of a bent pin.
