Hi

I'm looking for a file-manager for XP.

There would seem to be plenty of different ones, but I need one that uses it's own API's or DLL's - calling on the standard XP API's and DLL's, results in exactly the same errors as I am having in standard Windows Explorer.

The error is CD-ROM's not being correctly refreshed when changed - please see my other thread in the WINDOWS forum.

What I need, is a file manager which is not simply a more glossy front-end GUI for the standard Windows API's and DLL's, as this would seem to be where the CD-ROM bug is in XP, meaning that any file-manager that uses them, will have the same inability to access CD's as Win XP file-manager does...

Anyone know of any that are written this way?

I have tried AB Commander, Explorer XP, File Ant, and Total Commander so far. All of which obviously tap into the standard API's and DLL's, cos they too will not show the contents of a new CD you put in.

Not sure if this will cure it for you but I have been using this "Explorerplus" from the days of win3.1 all the way up to today
