Yo, diurnal,$50.00 bucks? not going to get much of a camera for that. I got one of those cheapy Jamcams when i got this computer and I beleive it is the About $80.00 new and it is a peice of junk. Now for a camera Compgeeks usually has specials on line can pick up a lot cheaper their. Your average price for a low end is usually around $249.00 which would be an Olympus If your looking to take real fine pictures look for pixels around 2.1 meg. 1600x1200res.With a3x optical/and a 3x dig zoom,Most cameras come with an 8mb smart media card preinstalled which takes 8 good pics. or 24 fair pixs. You will have to purchase another card with more space if you go on vacation? heh heh.Hope this helps you out. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

diurnal, to be perfectly honest I would shoot for one around 250.00 that camera there is probobly nice + it is a web cam to.But if your looking to own the camera for a while I don't think you will be happy with the quality of the photoes, Like I said with mine idon't get good quality i do better with my $50.00 35mm.Is there a store around that sells cameras,in your area.I would have them show me some pix. from a couple different styles when your spending money they would be glad to.I hope I helped a little. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Woah, there diurnal. I KNOW a GREAT digicam for a REALLY DECENT price. I own a Fuji FinePix 1300 and it has been GREAT! Of course, it can't compare to my Minolta Maxxum 7000i, but it's great for it's intended use, which leads to my question:

WHAT are you planning on using the camera for? I use my digicam MAINLY for selling stuff on eBay, and let me tell you it paid for itself in less than a week!! I also use it for family/other photos, and it does a great job. If I want to really do professional looking pics, I pull out my SLR.

If you plan on using it for selling stuff, YOU NEED to find a camera that has a MACRO feature (so you can get up close and get good detail). The FinePix 1300 has a macro feature and does a good job. Also, 2.3 megapixels is pretty high quality, but you could get by fine with 1.3 Megapixels, especially if you are just using the camera for general purpose photo taking.

You can get a BRAND NEW Fuji FinePix 1300 for about $130-$150 on eBay nowadays (I got mine a year ago and it cost $250). So I'm sure you could find a used one for even cheaper.

Here's are links of pics I've taken with the FinePix 1300, general and product pics:

I'm not an expert but besides computers and mountain bikes, my other passion is PHOTOGRAPHY! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif So ask away!

Azonic is definitely steering you in the right direction. The question he posed regarding your intended use is really the defining issue. You only need so much resolution to use on screen...and then at some point you're tossing money to the wind. The intermediate pixel range tries to bridge the gap, but if you expect to be able to print SLR quality images (at least right now) it will cost you.

Screen and Print really need to be looked at separately and would really best be handled as Yoda suggested by heading down to the local camera shop where you can see not only the screen image but also the print. There also you can see what the image manipulating software is capable of doing with a particular camera.

May all your dealings in life be win/win!
