Oz when was the last time you did a Benchmark?
Hows your level one & two Cache
how many slots you got open
you can always use more mem. as long as you don't over do it
I can't see going the full chunk split the diff.
My bios reports sys.has 128MB windows says only 112MB is available I personally need more of cource I'm sure my VGC uses some that might be what the prob.is. Have I talked you into it yet
If not are you a gammer?
Do you run auto cad?
Do you do a lot of graphic design?
Do you have a specific reason for needing more memory.
It's not going to speed up your sys.or (at least not to the eye)?
I'll think I'll quit while I'm ahead.
Seriousely to much can be worse than not enough!!
Hope this helps a little. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

You can NEVER have enough RAM!!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
No Matter WHAT apps you run, more memory will always allow you to perform functions better. it may be by only a few percentage points,or it may be a visible difference, but it doesn't hurt to have as much memory as you can. I'm running 512mb's of DDR PC2100 now, and i'm seriously looking into getting a Gig. Just got my hands on the new IL2- Sturmovik flight sim game , and they recommend a MINIMUM! of 512 mb's.
Eventually spomeone will figure out a productive/realistic way to use RAM for storage instead of a physical harddrive; then you'll literally see lightspeed performance from a PC! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
So yes, finiancialy wise and performance wise it makes sense to get as much memory as you can afford/handle. Bill really blew it on this one ( see 1st part of my sig. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif )

If your running Win 95/98/ME be careful not to go over 512 MB.. Microsoft has even made it public windows (95/98/ME) will have problems running with more than 512 MB... but, yeah, till you hit 512, keep upgrading!
I must say though, I'm up to 768MB and I don't see much of a difference aside from my Photoshop working substancially better, most of my other programs work about the same.
