my friend just newly bring her desktop here, anything is fine before that desktop arrived (when it still at her home), but when it here, that desktop connot load windows (it's not big problem, there is a file missing, by reinstall windows, i think it may fix this problem,>> after all options fail, safe mode and etc) :o

so what i do just try to reinstall the windows, setting the BIOS, change boot option and etc, seem anything look fine, "bip!!" (means no problem on POST), boot on cd and etc, till on making partion section, a long bip sound come out, the system just hang and stuck like that. turn off that desktop, check for any loosing cable, memory etc, double check, nothing wrong, i start the windows installing process again, same problem!! ahhh, really mess me up.

so i'm start guessing maybe there are hardware failure,. :D :) ..and i think it is momory problem (long bip normally for memory problem, sorry if i'm wrong), the point here, is it really memory problem or related to others hardware or software?? on POST anything seem ok(only a bip heard), do that can proove that the memory is in good condition? how can i determine that the memory is in good condition?? what tool or software should i need??

that's all, sorry for long post. :D

Run Memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/#download0) to test the ram.

If that doesn't show any errors try HDD diagnostics. http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=29081

Can you get into the BIOS to change the boot order?

IF so set the floppy or the CD to be the first boot device and then run Memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/) on it.
