Hi,
I'm looking for a scanner, but I don't have a clue which one is better. I was thinking of purchasing an AGFA. Does anyone have tips? I use the scanner for photo's and drawings. Also it has to be a relatively fast one. I know that HP scanners have high resolutions, but they're too slow for me.
Thanx.

I can’t recommend a model number
I can tell you that my Microtek scanners have never given me a moments trouble.
And I’m talking many Many years of Hard Use.
The better ones cost more but they last .

Also you may notice that Many of the scanner makers Don’t advertise there scan speeds. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
In a few cases it is because of the CPU dependency .

check out www.pcworld.com, (http://www.pcworld.com,) and type "top ten scanners" in the search box. When the list came up, click at "most recently matched". Looks for the high-end Visioneer scanners (very fast scanners if you can afford one).

I bought a cheap, low end, Visioneer scanner (4400). I was expecting it to be slow. It turns out to be that this item isn't speedy nor slow. Not too bad, it gets the job done.

Agfa has bailed out of the PC scanner market. (I still like my Snapscan 1212u, though.) If you want fast, mmm; sounds like money. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I highly recommend the Canonscan N656U. It's lightweight, and tiny. It measures at about 1 inch in thickness and about a foot and a half in length. The scanner offers 600dpi scans which is great for beginners. The scanner scans extremely fast (get the USB version). I usually scan at 300dpi and it takes less than minute for a full page. The price is reasonable, not cheap; but I sincerely recommend it.
