Does anyone know if you still can use "fake" inkcardridges with the Epson Stylus 880? I know that the older versions can, I heard that they've build in chips to prevent the use of other inkcardridges than Epson's.

Hello Cookie,
Most refills are based on factory empties, so if there is a chip, it would still be intact. As for buying Elcheapo no-name parts, Welllll, ya get what you pay for http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

I don't know of any that don't work, but I live in a cave... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I've been using Pelikan for several years and have had good results, no noticable difference in print quality, but I haven't used them on an Epson in a long time, mine is non-functional at the moment, and I found several Epson brand cartridges extremely cheap, so that's what I used the last 2 years it worked. The Pelikans did work though...but it is also a really old model.
I think bassman has a good point, if a chip is used, the remanufactured cartridges should still have it, and intact, assuming it's on the cartridge.
