Aight after drooling I mean reading about the new core 2 duo I have realized reality and it is just a little out of my price range and I need a computer now, so I think I will stick with our good friend AMD
Here is a rundown of my parts:
Mobo ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $145
If anyone knows of an equivalent but cheaper way out let me know.
Power Supply Ultra / X-Finity / 500-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA-Ready / SLI-Ready / Titanium / Power Supply $70
Not planning on OC'n just yet so I figured this would do. right?
DVD Burner SAMSUNG Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 5X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache ATA/ATAPI DVD Burner With LightScribe - OEM $40
Doesnt look like I can go wrong with this.
RAM CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail $211 - $40 mail in rebate.
Seemed like a sweet deal
Vid Card
a. XFX PV-T71G-UDF7 GeForce 7900 GT (470MHz) 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
Core clock 470mhz $260
or b. XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 GeForce 7900 GT EXTREME (520MHz) 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
Core Clock 520mhz $285
I am leaning towards b but does it really matter?
Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2000MHz HT Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800IAA5CU - Retail $169
And for the hard drive I have a new 250gb ata 133 that I would love to use for storage and would like something a little faster for the OS and gaming. What are some suggestions. If its not going to make a hella noticable difference I plan on going with Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $99
Oh and perpendicular recording or no?
All these prices are from newegg. If anyone knows someone who can beat them hook a poor guy up.
I have an old case that I am really hoping I can use but just in case any budget ideas out there that will keep my rig cool?
If I am missing anything let me know and thanks in advance for the replies!!
