Hi,
I have a Windows 98 OS, for the past few months I was away leaving my computer to my brothers.
When i came back I was unable to see folder options either in the start>settings nor in the menu>view bar.
In the status bar it shows some filea are hidden. I want the folder options back,
Please help.

Probably caused by corruption in your registry. :(
Try running the "Registry Tool" [for Win98/ME] that is on the 1st menu on the "Emergency Boot CD" [EBCD] linked below.
This will [allow you to backup your registry using scanreg, then] scan your registry and fix any errors it finds.

This makes it easier to boot a chosen drive [particularly the one holding the EBCD].
2. How to make a free EBCD bootable CD

This has a number of useful utilities included including "Image" [for DOS, by Terabyte] & "File Manager".
If the above doesn't work, you will need to run a "repair" reinstallation of Win95.
QUOTE
"If you run Windows 95 Setup after the operating system is installed, Setup asks if you want to verify the existing installation. You can use this feature to verify or repair the files that make up the Windows 95 operating system. You might be able to restore damaged files without completely reinstalling Windows."
If this happened very recently [within the last 5 successful bootup days], and if the hardware hasn't changed since the day the problem was introduced, and if no programs have been installed or uninstalled since then...
You could use the following command at a startup command prompt...
c:\>scanreg /restore
to restore a backup automatically made by scanreg on [or before] the 1st successful boot of the day on which the problem was introduced.
scanreg automatically makes a backup on the 1st successful boot of each new day on which the PC is used.
Restoring such a configuration [registry and other files] would take you back to the way things [the configuration] were then.
