Hi all.
:(

This %@^&# computer and this ^!@&%^@# XP...

It's daze like this, that I get really worked up for Linux, and if the applications that I run, were just made available in Linux, I would probably change OS's overnight...

Check this out:

This is the latest error - Explorer dies a sudden death whenever I try to open a particular folder. It makes no difference if you re-boot and try again, cycle power to the USB drive(with the folder on it)...

I can plug the external drive into another machine, and it accesses it just fine. This system was clean-installed about 1 month ago. No new software or other installed recently. This problem folder opened up fine about 3 days ago, but now, for some reason...

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Any thoughts?

Additional: - I get this error report, when I fish around a bit more while the error is on-screen...

EventType : BEX P1 : explorer.exe P2 : 6.0.2900.2649 P3 : 4254fe83
P4 : unknown P5 : 0.0.0.0 P6 : 00000000 P7 : 01d49710
P8 : c0000005 P9 : 00000008

Not sure if this helps any, but maybe it does, so I posted it...

Interestingly, if I install Explorer XP (www.explorerxp.com), then I can access this folder with no problems, proving that there is nothing wrong with the folder or the drive in any way, or Explorer XP would crash also - I think that Explorer XP is miles ahead of the MS issue explorer file manager in many areas...

Does it crash in Safe Mode?

Yes it does, but I think I have found out how to get around this...

I set Explorer to show all folders in the DETAILS view, and the problem goes away.

Perhaps it is(was) being caused by explorer trying to show a preview of a video that I don't have the codec for or something like that, cos explorer only falls over when it is trying to show the snapshot of one of the videos in this folder...

Anyway Details view fixes this, and if I want Thumnail view, I will just ask for it on other folders...
