i now have a master and slave PATA, if i go and get a new HD-SATA:

-will i be able to transfer the image of my PATA (with OS) in my new SATA with a simple click?
-if yes, when the bios in the boot sequence looks at the HDs how it will decide if to boot from the SATA or the PATA?
-what happends to the slave pata?
-does a 3Gb/sec SATA work on a 150Mb/s mobo? ...even if it's slowed down?

thank you

1. Your new drive should come with a transfer util. to copy the content of the old C: to the new drive.
Will it work with sata ?? depends on the drive and sata controller.
2. You will have to tell the Bios to LOOK at the sata drive in the boot order and tell it to boot from there
3. all your drives should still be seen and accessed by windoz.
Drive letters may change But if all are ntfs they will show as local drive
4. Yes it should work.. But will be limited to the trasnsfer rate of the older hardware
