Hey all, sorry I haven't been posting here like I said I would... I've had a lot of computer problems lately so I decided to take a break from them for a little while and come back on a clean slate! Haha.

My most recent one is one that's really bugging me. I had first assumed that it was a video card problem. I had been experiencing some serious overheating problems (once getting up to 92 degrees Celsius, though I usually kept an eye on things and shut down the program once it got above 70) when playing my taxing games, and even up in the 70's on my somewhat low performance games (older games such as Pirates! and even the Jagged Alliance games). So, I made sure my card had cooled down, and then started to save up for a new fan and just stopped gaming, using my computer solely for music / DVD purposes.

Current Symptoms:
I woke up one morning, and the monitor had gone black. The LED was blinking yellow, but the computer was still on. This still occurs now. When I restart, POST does not appear to run (no beep). It does make the "grind" on initial power-up and the fans do power on, but it doesn't appear to do anything after that.

I purchased a new video card to put in, but it is still doing the same thing. I've tried a bare bones boot with the same results. I've switched out RAM and used a different monitor (I'm actually using the original monitor now, both are in working order). I had finally got everything working fine, and then seemingly out of nowhere, this came up =P

I had honestly decided to just give up nursing it back to life myself and to take it to a PC Repair shop, but my least expensive option around here wanted to charge me $70 just to look at it, and then whatever it would cost to fix whatever was wrong.

Any ideas guys?

Oops! Forgot all the specs =P

I'm running and Athlon 64 3500+, an ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard, and a Sapphire ATI Radeon X850XT (PCI-E).

And for clarification's sake, the overheating problems were exclusive to the video card. The processor was running just fine.

The POST won't complete on a barebones boot, and you got a new vid card and swapped out the RAM. That means the problem is a core component (assuming all other parts were known to be working at the time of testing). You can try a new PSU, but I think the mobo is bad. Have you checked the caps, especially the ones around the CPU socket?

No, I haven't taken a look at the caps... I really only took the mobo out of the case for the few minutes to try and check everything on the barebones, I didn't take much more time with it out of the case to look at; I'll have to do that when I get home from class today.

Thanks a lot for the help again, Saph =)
