I just got access to a pentium 4 processor. What is the fastest I can clock that without burning it up?

That's like saying 'I've got an engine...how fast can it go?'

We need more details. The Pentium 4s are a family of processors, covering a wide range of speeds. If you don't know what the base speed is, Intel has a search function on their site to find the specs of your processor...

The computer with the pent 4 on it is a hewlitt packard a1000n. It has a phoenix LTD 309 bios with 1024 mb ram. The mobo has p4gb-la guppy gl63 written on it. Does that help any at all? :)

Sort of...

First, being an HP, it is doubtful that it will be able to be clocked any higher than 'stock' speed...the options just aren't there to do it.

We still don't know the 'stock' speed of the CPU..so there is no way to say what potential it has putting it in a motherboard that can be adjusted.
