I want to move up to 2GB DDR2 SDRAM for my pc that will be used primarily for gaming. I was wondering If you guys could give give me some insight on the difference between these two different sets of RAM.

Will the more expensive model be alot fater? If so how much?

Also i have an SLI ready mobo, and i noticed the less expensive RAM had an SLI ready logo in its picture and the more expensive RAM does not, so will that have an effect if should I ever decide to upgrade to a second graphics card?

I aprreciate all the help you guys can give me in advance.

Hi Ballistic and welcome to the PcGuide forums. :)

First what are your system specs? That will be the determining factor on what ram to get.

The biggest difference in the two sets is the speed. One is 675, and one 800.

The SLI ready thing is basically ram with a more information on the SPD chip in order to allow non-techies to overclock easier, and access to more advanced ram timings. But no it won't effect you if you decide to go SLI at some point. ;)

So if you don't plan to OC, don't worry about it. Also this function is only supported by the latest nVidia 5xx chipsets (AMD socket AM2). So unless your system is brand new and has the one of the 5xx chipsets it doesn't matter anyway. But it will work just fine in a system that does not support the new functions.

One more thing, since I have a 7800GT if I go for another graphics card it needs to be another 7800 because they need to have the same GPU, right? And installing it would be as simple as inserting into the correct slot, or is it more difficult?

You can use different GPU's but it's highly recommended not too. The more powerful card will slow down to run at the speed of the slower one. So it would be a waste of the faster one.

Here is a link to SLI Zone FAQ's. You can find tons of info there. http://www.slizone.com/page/slizone_faq.html
