Hi,

I have a laptop and the LCD backlight has gone and everything is dim now. I cant see anything. I dont know what the reason is but I want to know whether playing high end games is the cause for the LCD to go bad or is it irrelevant?

Can anyone tell the reason for the LCD to go off?

Kishu

Welcome to PCGuide Discussion Forum.

First of all, maybe I'm wrong but as I know, software doesn't affect much on monitor display running. The lost of your LCD display may due to long period turnning on your laptop, or the wires that connecting the mainboard and screen have become bad.

Thanks for the answer.

Do you think that these high and fast moving graphics do not effect the pixels of the LCD?

Help from anybody else is also greatly appreciated.

Thank you

No, the component that will affect your screen is the integrated graphic chip, if your laptop is not supported by any company of display graphic like NVidia or ATi. However, same sight from me, the heat is the main fact on causing such problem. Especially laptop, which has a weak cooling system overall...:(

Added to the fact that backlights are probably one of the top three laptop problems...batteris and keyboards being the other two.

Did you bash or drop the Laptop at all?You could have damaged the back light or the connections to it.

I always remember hearing that still images were bad for CRT screens suggesting fast and moving images are better..but I wouldn't know if that would apply to laptops also. And besides if this was the case and you damaged the screen itself I wouldn't think it would cause the back light to go.I would have thought it would damage the screen itself.
