BIOS conversion

Poking around the MSI support area, I noticed a "BIOS Conversion Utility", that apparently will "convert" from Award to AMI, and vice versa. Somehow, I thought the BIOS was tied to the hardware configuration. Is that not so? Why would one want to convert?

Certain motherboards are produced in 2 "flavors" one Award the other AMI...basically the same except for the BIOS. Each BIOS has the same functions, but what you the user can control is different...hence the need for a conversion utility. And this conversion utility is only for those boards...
