I have a compaq deskpro ex running windows xp home with 256 mb. ram . It has an ami system bios. I'm trying to find a bios update for the onboard Intel 82810 graphics controller though. I found system bios update and graphics driver update but I can't find a graphics controller bios update. Any one? Please?

No such critter exists...
The video is a function of the chipset, therefore, all the control for it is embedded in either the system BIOS or the drivers for the operating systems that support that chipset.
Why do you want to update it? What is the problem?

I ran a benchmark program on my system and it suggested a video bios update so I was just kinda checking into it. But if there is no such thing then what did it mean?
First of all, flash BIOS only if you found an (usualy hardware) incompatibility issue.
Seond the vendor may not issue an update or the VGA BIOS may not be upgradable.

The i810/e onboard video has a known issue when it comes to compatibility and functionality. There's nothing you can do, however, since the error is at the firmware level and Intel never patched it. The i810/e chipset itself was the cheap-a$$ one put into Celeron systems, and its onboard video was really only meant to slap Windows on the screen. And yes, the onboard video is built into the Northbridge chip itself - it was the first of Intel's GMCH series, followed closely by the i815 series.
If you're trying to do anything graphics-related with that system, I'd suggest getting a PCI vid card to go in there (since the i810/e lacked AGP support) and call it a day. There's nothing you can do to "fix" the onboard video problem since it would require a mobo BIOS update that Intel never released.
