is there a way to tell what nic card and model number it is without opening the PC up? if so how? Is there some freeware that can do it? Please let me know.

If the system is running Windows, just look in Device Manager. That should at least be able to tell you what family the network chipset is.

Go Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager->Network Adapters. Your card should be listed there.

Try Aida16 on the 1st menu of the FREE "Emergency Boot CD" [EBCD] as linked below.
When I ran it recently the hardware detail seemed impressive.

This makes it easier to boot a chosen drive [particularly the one holding the EBCD].

This has a number of useful utilities included including Aida16, "Image" [for DOS, by Terabyte] & "File Manager".

my nic card is a linksys model # lne100tx v5.1 which I need drivers for. Can someone tell me where I can d/l them from please? I appreciate it, I tried linksys but i don't see that version.

I d/l the zip and copied them to a floppy the I copied them to the computer I want it on? Is that all I am suppose to do cause I still don't have an ip? Any help is appreciated.
