ok when i turned my pc on today it beeped 1 long and 4 short beeps and it wouldnt boot up, shut it off try again everything is fine, why did it beep its never done it before?
Some info would be nice...basics...CPU/motherboard, custom/store bought, etc...

ok its a store bought hp heres the info
Motherboard:

Who made the BIOS?
HP or Compaq? and model number...

ah i dont know who made the bios but the pc model number is hp pavilion a340n ....i hope this is what u wanted
It is an Award BIOS and the only thing I could find was that it may be a memory problem...
If it was a one shot thing, then I'd say don't worry about it, but if it repeats, then grab memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/) and give it a run...

i recently added ram (2 weeks ago) it was geil is that ram crappy?...lol maybe thats the cause
Then maybe give memtest a shot...
Did you blow out the slots before seating the RAM? Dirty/dusty slots can cause problems.
