Please can somebody help me :)

I have just bought a new microphone headset it has 2 plugs on the end green and pink. I have plugged them in the correct holes in the back of the computer and unfortunately I cant get any voice recognition :(

I have consulted windows troubleshooter and it says that to change the settings you have to go to control panel - speech and then configure - Here lies the problem. I have indeed clicked on the speech app in the control panel however the only thing it says is

VOICE SELECTION - MICROSOFT SAM
PREVIEW VOICE
AUDIO OUTPUT

There is no configure tab ?????/

I have clicked on audio output and selected my sound card - However still no voice recognition ????? The headphones are working great

Can anyone help me to get my mike working

Hello, and welcome .. :D

Have you tried to make a recording to test your mike using Windows Sound Recorder??

The link to the info is HERE (http://www.emicrophones.com/docDetails.asp?DocumentID=30)

It will at least prove your mike is working... ;)

Yep I have tried that already unfortunately to no avail. Its as if my xp doesnt recognise a microphone. Do I need to download a microphone driver ?

In the Audio Properties, "Microphone" is usually muted by default. Have you ensured that the box to mute is unchecked?
